She sang in choirs entered performances in singing contests, and was a part of high school and community theatre. Following her move to Los Angeles, she studied theatre in The University of Southern California and played Belle the princess on the stage in Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for one year and a quarter. Her decision to leave college was to locate an agent for talent to audition for television and films. Butler started shooting The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller in Mallorca, in November 2011. The film was also set for shooting in Copenhagen Denmark and New York City.She was part of the crew for the film, an independent one Treachery with Michael Biehn which began filming in Los Angeles in June 2012.
