Yael Stone, a native of Australia and living in New York City in 2013 was the character Lorna Mello as the prisoner on Orange Is the New Black. Yael holds a master's degree from NIDA. At a very young age, Yael has been lucky to have worked with some of Australia's premiere storytellers, luminaries of the stage and visionaries behind the scenes in film, television and theatre. Yael has had a long and successful career working in Australia. A continuing collaboration with Australia's much-lauded director Neil Armfield culminated in the internationally-renowned production Diary of a Madman, in which she starred opposite Academy- Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actor Geoffrey Rush. Yael has made New York City her home following the Brooklyn Academy of Music produced the critically acclaimed production. Yael created The Cannery with her co-founders. The Cannery is a studio located situated in Bushwick, Brooklyn, the company supports new writing and imaginative, inventive ventures.
